The objective of Auditory-Verbal Therapy (AVT) is to utilize hearing amplification instruments to maximize residual hearing capacity of the hearing-impaired children; this allows them to speak through listening just like children with normal hearing. Without the limitations of using conventional sign language and lip-reading techniques, AVT enables hearing impaired children to interact and communicate with the rest of the society naturally, just like normal hearing children. AVT is the latest development to help hearing-impaired children return to regular school and function independently in society.
