Although the keyword “Helpless” also reveals how the people feel when facing dilemmas, it also shows there are many charitable organizations dedicate in helping those in need. Let’s now start digging into those impressive movies about “hearing!”

#1
《We are Champions》

Life is like a match, it only starts in the second half. Praised as a “must watch” Taiwanese movie, 《We are Champions》is a hot-blooded story about the High-School Basketball league. Fostered in an unfavorable situation by their uncle and aunt, basketball is their only desire for the brothers Jiang Shiou Yu and Jiang Tung Hou. They have a dream to shine in High-School Basketball league

#2
《A Silent Voice》

Adapted by the animation《A Silent Voice》, the movie centers on the bully and the victims. Compared to the original version, which is gloomier, the movie has cut off most of the plot that is too dismal, but still makes the audience contemplate after watching it. The movie is about a girl with hearing loss being bullied by a boy, and the boy is also bullied by others many years after because of the history of him bullying the girl. He even wants to commit suicide.

Beside the upsetting themes of “Bullying” and “Suicide,” many netizens pay attention to the girl’s hearing loss. Though this problem may seem distant to us, it’s actually something happen quite a lot around us on a daily basis. Has it ever occurred to you that this kind of problem could be prevented from the beginning? For example, Children’s Hearing Foundation (CHF) aims to provide early intervention and treatment to help children with hearing loss, giving them another option of learning how to listen and speak rather than learning sign language. CHF wants to give the children with hearing loss a choice to lead a hearing lives, and don’t need to suffer from others’ curious eyes. If the lead role in《A Silent Voice》could receive this kind of assistance, that series of tragedies might not happen in the movie.

#3 《A Quiet Place》

Sets in years later in Earth, a kind of species with no vision depends on their hearing ability to hunt. Most of the human are killed, and only a few survivors manage to find a way to live. What is interesting about the movie is that there are no more than 6 roles, and the plot centers around the relationship among a family. The sister born with hearing loss inevitably collides with the monsters because of her hearing condition, causing her brother’s death in an accident. This incident also becomes a knot in their father’s heart. The interaction between the father and sister is what makes this movie brilliant.
