Audiological Management

The importance of audiological management

The concept of audiological management comes with auditory-verbal approach. It requires devices such as hearing aids or cochlear implants to enhance and monitor the hearing capabilities of children with hearing loss and facilitate their auditory-verbal training. Hearing is the foundation for learning speech and language; without hearing, various types of development will be greatly affected. Therefore, it is essential that the hearing function of children with hearing loss remain at the highest level possible to establish a solid base for auditory-verbal learning.

Our audiological management services

At CHF, our professional audiologists regularly provide audiological assessment and consultation according to the condition of each child. In addition, we guide parents to observe whether their children’s auditory development is normal, assist parents to interpret audiological assessment reports, and provide relevant assistance and advice on hearing devices. Audiological management services at CHF include the following:

  • Collection of case history, such as pregnancy and delivery process, audiological examination records, and hearing aid experience
  • Behavioral hearing assessments: air conduction, bone conduction, with hearing aids
  • Other relevant hearing assessments: tympanometry, acoustic reflexes, otoacoustic emission, cortical auditory evoked potential examination
  • Speech audiometry
  • Parental counseling: assistance in interpreting hearing assessment reports from hospitals/hearing aid companies/other institutes, hearing aid/FM system recommendations, and cochlear implant pre-operational evaluation and consultation
  • Hearing aid assessment, verification, and adjustment
  • Comprehensive case reports
  • Assistance in filling out government subsidy applications for hearing devices
  • Hearing aid bank providing short-term rental service when necessary
