In the past 25 years, the Children’s Hearing Foundation (CHF) has helped more than 5,000 children with hearing loss to step out of silence and hear the world. They have also worked hard to speak up for themselves and confidently show their unique talents.
The AAEON Foundation has been promoting art education for a long time, not only bringing art resources to the campus and the community, but also setting up art exhibitions at many enterprises and companies, bringing art into more people’s lives. This time, the AAEON Foundation and CHF jointly curated the “CHF Children’s Painting and Storytelling Exhibition”. The 10 paintings on display were created by Children at CHF, from 5 to 30 years old, telling different stories of their lives.
The first physical exhibition was held in the AAEON Art Corridor. Not only painting, but also storytelling!
The CHF Children’s Painting and Storytelling Exhibition was debuted at the end of April in the AAEON Art Corridor. Each artwork was exhibited with a QRcode linked to a video of the young artists telling stories behind the creation for the viewers. The online exhibition showcases paintings and videos on the official website of the Children’s Hearing Foundation, sharing the talents of children as well as the sweet results of their effort in learning speech.
5-year-old Pei Jei’s parents are also hard of hearing, so her aunt carried on the responsibility of auditory-verbal training and taught Pei Jei how to speak. Now Pei Jei can speak out her dreams and paint her dream career on paper with the theme “I am a hair stylist”, creating a self-portrait of elegance!
9-year-old Yu Shan had a hard time learning how to listen and speak due to auditory neuropathy and limitations of her auditory nerve. Neither Yu Shan nor her mother gave up and continued to persist in connecting with the outside world. Yu Shan also participated in CHF’s “Please! Listen and Speak Carefully” LINE sticker project and created a giraffe character to encourage everyone to speak out!

Children with hearing loss and Huahua Design team up to create LINE stickers
One of the works on display is from the “Listen & Speak Your Mind Sincerely” LINE sticker. It was jointly created bythree young painters and Huahua Design. The concept of the sticker came from the learning process of the children with hearing loss. In the process of their listening and speaking, “expression” is the first step in communication. No matter it is caring for others or expressing oneself, you can only understand by speaking out! The illustrations of the children with hearing loss are combined with daily languages to bring closer communication.
From the creation of stickers, art exhibition works to audio-visual presentations, children with hearing loss not only speaks for themselves, but also conveys their desire to connect with the world. Our hope is that the children may listen and speak carefully with the public and create a more friendly and inclusive society!
