According to 2024 data from the Health Promotion Administration, approximately 5 out of every 1,000 newborns in Taiwan are children with hearing loss. Missing the critical period for spoken language development can severely impact a child’s communication and learning abilities, as well as their social adaptation and interpersonal relationships.
In response, PX Mart and the PX Mart Pei-Hua Dream Fulfillment Foundation have partnered for the first time with the Children’s Hearing Foundation (CHF) to launch a spare change donation campaign. Golden Melody Award-winning singer Julia Peng was invited to serve as the campaign ambassador, and PX Mart donated 10 million reward points, equivalent to NT$1 million, to support the cause.

PX Mart and the PX Mart Pei-Hua Dream Fulfillment Foundation partnered for the first time with the Children’s Hearing Foundation (CHF) to launch a spare change donation campaign. To promote the initiative, they invited Golden Melody Award-winning singer Julia Peng to serve as the campaign ambassador. On the day of the launch, a press conference titled “Love Starts with One – Let’s Help Together, Support Early Intervention and Education Support Program for Children with Hearing Loss” was held at the Chang Yung-Fa Foundation International Convention Center. The event aimed to raise awareness and support for CHF’s Early Hearing Detection and Intervention, helping children with hearing loss hear the world, speak their hearts, and regain confidence and hope.
CHF’s Teaching & Research Dept. Service Management Director, Lai Chi-Min, shared that early intervention for children with hearing loss is extremely challenging. CHF has been deeply engaged in Auditory Verbal Approach for 28 years, offering comprehensive services including newborn hearing screening, educational counseling, hearing aid fitting, individualized auditory-verbal sessions, and family support.
CHF has supported nearly 6,000 children with hearing loss in developing listening and speaking abilities. Last year alone, over 1,000 preschool-aged children received early intervention training during their critical period, laying the foundation for diverse growth and helping them find their voice.

Chang Yi-Chun, Board Director of the PX Mart Pei-Hua Dream Fulfillment Foundation, shared that the foundation has been established for 15 years and has long focused on the developmental needs of children and youth. Through this collaboration with CHF via the spare change donation campaign, they discovered that hearing loss in early childhood development is an issue often overlooked by the public. She emphasized that hearing is a child’s gateway to understanding the world and learning language. By partnering with CHF, the foundation hopes to help more children with hearing loss seize the critical period for spoken language development, enabling early detection and early intervention, and restoring hope through sound.
Chang Yi-Chun also shared that during this collaboration, she spent time browsing CHF’s website and came across many touching stories. One in particular left a deep impression on her. It described how the journey of auditory-verbal training for children with hearing loss is long and requires strong family support. She was especially moved by a line that said mothers are often the first to learn how to understand their children, and they are also the ones least afraid to communicate. She reflected that this kind of love is the starting point for a child’s courage to express themselves.

Golden Melody Award-winning singer Julia Peng has openly shared in interviews that, as a professional vocalist, years of wearing headphones for recording and performing have led to hearing fatigue and gradual decline. This personal experience has deepened her understanding of how the ability to hear affects communication, self-expression, and even one’s sense of identity. As the campaign ambassador for the CHF initiative “Love Starts with One – Let’s Help Together, Support Early Intervention and Education Support Program for Children with Hearing Loss,” she hopes to use her story and influence to raise public awareness about the importance of early intervention for children with hearing loss.
During the event, a public service video featuring Julia Peng and children was premiered. She shared her initial concerns about the children’s ability to express themselves, but was pleasantly surprised by their clarity and intelligence.
She also had a heartwarming interaction with a child named Yao-Yu, noting that his hearing aid resembled her stage monitor earpiece. After filming, she sent Yao-Yu a photo of her earpiece with a message: “Yao-Yu, this is Aunt Julia’s earpiece—just like yours! I’m so happy to meet you and hope to see you again soon!”
Julia Peng also shared that when she first received the invitation to join the spare change donation campaign, she agreed without hesitation. She mentioned that there’s a PX Mart just a short walk from her home, and in the past, she often used her PX Mart reward points to redeem cookware. Now, she’s happy that those same points can be used for charitable giving, supporting children with hearing loss through the spare change donation program.

Liu Hung-Cheng, Associate Manager of the Marketing Department at PX Mart, stated that in the first half of 2025, the spare change donation campaign raised over NT$12.28 million. Compared to last year, the results remained steady. He emphasized that love is limitless, and the key lies in public participation—each donation, made one coin at a time by individuals, reflects meaningful engagement. Achieving such results amid broader economic fluctuations is truly commendable.
Of the NT$12.28 million raised, PX Pay collected 5.13 million reward points, equivalent to NT$513,000, while PX Pay’s direct donation feature raised NT$590,000. Liu noted that over the past 20 years, PX Mart has established four major foundations, supporting children’s dreams, emergency relief, arts and culture, and cultural preservation. The company has donated a total of NT$3.2 billion, averaging nearly NT$200 million annually. Regardless of external conditions, PX Mart remains committed to using its profits to give back to society. Beyond its own efforts, it also encourages public participation, hoping to create a cycle of kindness that fills society with love.
Liu added that in the third quarter of 2025, with campaign ambassador Julia Peng leading the way, the initiative aims to inspire people to turn everyday spare change into a force for good. Through PX Pay’s donation features—whether via reward points or direct contributions—the public can support the “Love Starts with One – Let’s Help Together, Support Early Intervention and Education Support Program for Children with Hearing Loss”, helping every child who longs to be heard rediscover their voice. PX Mart Welfare Center has taken the lead by donating 10 million reward points, equivalent to NT$1 million, to help more children with hearing loss overcome barriers of silence and experience the beauty of sound.

To help children seize the critical period for language development, CHF also launched an interactive “Soundimals-Listen. Play. And you’ll Rise.” hearing game on its website. By scanning a QR code and wearing headphones, users can quickly self-assess their hearing condition. The game aims to raise awareness that hearing loss doesn’t only affect infants—it can quietly impact people of all ages.
From now until September 30, donations can be made at PX Mart stores or via PX Pay. Every coin donated supports CHF’s auditory-verbal early intervention and education program, helping children with hearing loss hear the world and speak their hearts.
