The Children’s Hearing Foundation (CHF) held the “Trick or Treat with Love” charitable event on Wednesday, October 29, in the Neihu Technology Park. The event invited children with hearing loss currently receiving Early Intervention courses at CHF to step out of the classroom, enter the community, and experience the fun of trick-or-treating for Halloween. The event saw joint participation from Lite-On Technology, the Lite-On Cultural and Educational Foundation, Wonderland Group, the Neihu Technology Park Development Association, the MOMO Kids Channel, and the Neihu Sports Center. They set up “Charity Candy Stations” to practically support the hearing and speaking training and socialization learning of children with hearing loss, adding a touch of cuteness and kindness to the streets of Neihu Technology Park.
Learning Social Skills Through Games, Feeling the Power of Inclusion with Love
The CHF stated that this event is not just a holiday experience, but also an opportunity for children with hearing loss to learn to be “understood and seen” in daily life. For most children, Halloween is simply a festival of dressing up and happily collecting candy; however, for a child with hearing loss, this is a real-life practice of “listening and speaking.”
Because hearing aids amplify all surrounding sounds, the children must practice focused listening and distinguishing human voices in noisy environments, and bravely speak up during multi-person interactions. At the same time, children must also learn to wait and control their emotions. These seemingly small processes are all critical lessons in their social and language training.
On the day of the event, guided by their teachers, the children successfully shared candy with corporate brothers and sisters through interactive games like drawing balls and guessing games, with every smile full of accomplishment.

Opening the Magic Door of Social Inclusion Starting with a Piece of Candy
Lite-On Technology and the Lite-On Cultural and Educational Foundation, which responded for the first time this year by setting up “Charity Candy Stations,” demonstrated the spirit of community partnership and mutual benefit. Their employees joined the “Trick or Treat with Love” event in costumes, and through carefully designed interactive segments, they stepped further into the world of children with hearing loss. Ms. Chang I-Yi, Head of the Corporate Brand Value Development Center at Lite-On Technology and CEO of the Lite-On Cultural and Educational Foundation, shared with emotion: “It is an honor to partner with the Children’s Hearing Foundation, allowing Lite-On employees to become volunteers and participate in charity work, becoming a growing help for the social learning and interaction of children with hearing loss. We believe that every act of kindness and companionship is both a strength that supports the children’s confident journey forward and a gentle expression of social inclusion.” This event planning not only allowed companies in Neihu Tech Park to understand the effectiveness of early intervention education but also enabled the children to feel the kindness and acceptance of society through real-life interaction.

The CHF has long provided Early Intervention and speech therapy courses for children with hearing loss, serving over 600 cases annually. Approximately one out of every two children with hearing loss in Taiwan receives services at the Foundation.
The CHF emphasized that the learning journey for children with hearing loss is a long marathon. From hearing sounds and understanding meaning to confidently speaking, every step relies on the support of professional teams and the public.
The funding for these courses and inclusion activities all comes from public donations. The Foundation hopes that the event will enable more companies and the public to understand the importance of hearing loss education and collectively become the force that helps children “be heard by the world.”
